Claude Code error
API Error: Server is temporarily limiting requests (not your usage limit)
Claude Code tells this apart from a real plan limit by the missing quota headers a limit response carries.
A short throttle on the API side.
It has nothing to do with your plan quota.
What it means
The API applied a short-lived throttle that is unrelated to your plan quota.
Claude Code retries it automatically with backoff before showing it (version 2.1.199 and later), whichever way you sign in. Earlier versions failed the turn on the first one for a claude.ai plan.
Fix it
- Wait a short while and try again.
- Update Claude Code if you are on an older version, so the retry happens for you.
- Check status.claude.com if it keeps coming back.
Switch while you wait
This is not your quota, so another vendor only helps if the status page shows an outage.
If it does, run the task on a vendor you already pay for until it clears.
With superbot
superbot is your own AI agent with a model of its own that runs on superbot credits, so it keeps working when a vendor's plan runs out.
It also puts your own API keys behind one base URL, with one caller key, in the OpenAI or Anthropic format.
Calls on your own keys spend no superbot credits, and you pay your provider as usual.
Claude Code takes an Anthropic base URL, so see the ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL page.
