Cursor error
You've hit your usage limit. Upgrade for more usage. Get more credits on higher plans.
This string comes from a user bug report on the Cursor forum (forum.cursor.com/t/144570), not from Cursor docs. It looks like older plan wording; the current pricing page does not print it.
Your plan usage for that model ran out.
It can happen before the month ends.
What it means
In the report, a legacy Pro plan hit its limit for an expensive model while most of the plan was still unused. The pool for that model ended first.
Usage on legacy plans resets monthly with your billing cycle. The reset date is on the Spending tab. Unused usage does not roll over.
Fix it
- Turn on on-demand usage so extra use is billed as you go, or upgrade to a higher plan.
- Or wait for the billing date. Cursor staff told the reporter that renewal reset the limit.
Switch while you wait
Add your own API key under Cursor Settings, Models. Your provider bills you, and those requests do not draw from your included usage.
Custom keys work with chat models only. Tab completion keeps using Cursor built-in models.
With superbot
superbot is your own AI agent with a model of its own that runs on superbot credits, so it keeps working when a vendor's plan runs out.
It also puts your own API keys behind one base URL, with one caller key, in the OpenAI or Anthropic format.
Calls on your own keys spend no superbot credits, and you pay your provider as usual.
Cursor takes an OpenAI base URL for your own key, so see the OPENAI_BASE_URL page.
